This is a new recipe I created today and it was a BIG hit with my guys!
Sausage & Cabbage Skillet
1 lb. beef smoked sausage (organic, grass-fed, & nitrate free–we get ours from Homestead Heritage)
1 head cabbage (from our garden or organic)
1/2 cup raw butter (divided–made from raw grass-fed cream)
1/2 tbsp. garlic granules (organic)
1/8 tsp. ground nutmeg (organic)
Sea salt & pepper to taste (organic)
In a skillet, melt 1/4 cup of butter. Cut the sausage into rings and then quarter the rings. Put in the skillet with the butter and warm the sausage through. Season with the garlic granules, nutmeg, sea salt & pepper. Chop the cabbage and add to the skillet along with the remaining butter. Cook until cabbage is heated through and slightly limp, but still a bit crunchy. Serve with whole wheat rolls. The sauce from this dish is great for dipping your rolls in…YUM!
I accidently added the nutmeg, thinking I’d grabbed the pepper, but it turned out to be a wonderful addition! Colt, who’s not real crazy about cabbage, ate 3 helpings and asked me to fix it again sometime.

Sounds yummy! I think my family would really enjoy this recipe…can’t wait to give it a try!
I wish we lived closer to Homestead Heritage! I am hoping that the next time we are down visiting my parents (they live in Grandview) we will be able to go down and get some yummy stuff! My dad loves the blacksmithing, has taken several classes there, and now has his own forge. He has made some great stuff!
I can’t wait to go back and eat in the little sandwich shop and then enjoy walking around and doing some shopping!
Hope Marty is feeling great!
Susan,
This looked so good I just had to try it. We had it for lunch today. My girls loved it. They are 12, 14 and 16. I made some fried potatoes to go with it and it was a delicious meal. Thanks for the recipe.
blessings,
